3. WHY KITCHEN PRICES DIFFER
What Makes One Custom Kitchen Cost More Than Another?
Two kitchens with similar dimensions can still cost very different amounts. Benchtop range, cabinet-front finish, drawer quantity, storage mechanisms, opening systems and integrated appliances all change the materials, hardware or fabrication required.
Benchtop
Small-speckled < small-pattern < large marble-look.
Larger-pattern stone ranges generally sit higher.
Cabinet Fronts
Standard melamine < high-gloss melamine < acrylic < shaker / painted fronts
Price generally rises with the surface material and finishing required, with shaker and painted fronts sitting in a similar higher range.
Doors vs Drawers
Shelved door cabinet < multi-drawer cabinet
More drawer boxes, runners and fronts increase the cabinet cost.
Storage Hardware
Fixed shelves < pull-out pantry / corner storage mechanisms
Specialised moving hardware adds additional components.

What Materials and Hardware Can You Choose for a Custom Kitchen?
The ARK Kitchen Materials Library brings together NZ-sourced cabinet board materials, selected German-brand hardware, handles and opening systems, 304 stainless-steel sinks, engineered-stone benchtops and sintered-stone splashbacks. 5. Kitchen Renovation Scope
How Do You Decide What to Include in Your Kitchen Renovation?
Start by separating the kitchen itself from the work around it. If you already have your own builder or trades, or prefer to manage that work yourself, those works can remain separate.
If you want ARK to take care of the wider kitchen-led renovation, ARK Renovation can bring the required site and trade work into the same confirmed project.

How Does a Custom Kitchen Project Work?
From your first estimate or existing plans, the project moves through four stages: confirm the kitchen, confirm the price and scope, activate the project, then manufacture, install and hand over.
01 — Start With What You Have
Use The ARK Kitchen Edit or upload existing plans, measurements and project information.
02 — Confirm the Design, Scope & Price
ARK reviews the layout, measurements, materials and relevant site conditions. The Formal Quote confirms what is included, excluded and separately coordinated.
03 — Activate the Project
Once the Formal Quote is accepted and the required deposit is confirmed, the project schedule and project record are set up.
04 — Manufacture, Install & Handover
The kitchen moves through workshop production, delivery, cabinetry installation, benchtop work, final checks and handover.
7. PROJECT DELIVERY
What Happens After You Order Your Kitchen?
Once your kitchen project is activated, myARK keeps the planned schedule, recorded progress and released project documents connected from production through installation and handover. ARK Standards defines the checks used at key production, installation and final handover stages.
